Mission
Planting Justice is a grassroots organization with a mission to democratize access to affordable, nutritious food by empowering urban residents with the skills, knowledge, and resources they need to maximize organic food production, expand job opportunities, and ensure environmental sustainability in the Bay Area.

Internship
Planting Justice is interested in interns to support its Grassroots Canvass Program. The Canvass Team continues to raise over $150,000 per year for Planting Justice's operating budget in small donations from Bay Area community members. Sparking conversations about the the prison system, corporate food control, backyard gardening and green job creation - the canvass team spoke to over 51,750 people on the streets about food justice issues since its inception in 2012. As part of this team, you will develop a deep knowledge of PJ's mission, vision, and programming. You will learn how grassroots fundraising can be a tool for community organizing and help to build the organization's base of support.

Location
As an intern at Planting Justice you will attend several training and canvassing sessions in Oakland to learn the ropes. Then you will try your skills with the canvassing team in the Palo Alto area.

Times
The Canvass Team operates Monday-Friday, 10:00am-6:00pm. You will join them for some portion of this time.
